Mary,

This is a GREAT site. Do you know who now owns "Oliver's Grove"? I do have some information that I got from Bonnie Oliver years ago. I believe she's descended from his first marriage.

What a wonderful website!! I have a marriage to add - in Chatsworth - 1900 - in the form of a copy of an article when the bride celebrated her 88th birthday in Collum. Can send if you can use it.

I was searching for my great-grandmother's husband John Baack they were married in chatsworth in 1897. He was a veteran of the 57th Illinois volunteer Infantry. I have his discharge certificate and his citizenship papers as well as his disability pension award. He was very kind to my grandfather and I hate to think that his grave may be uncared for.

Hello!
I just came across a full page from the June 17, 1990 Sunday Journal, Kankakee with the following articles: "Riding the Rails", " Chatsworth Historical Society Sponsors Evening Railroad Excursions into the Past", Throttle of Old No. 91 Best of all Worlds for a Fanatic". I had thought it looked like something fun to do, but never did. Wondering if this train ride had continued to the present time, I was prompted to try to find more information on the internet and that led me to your website.

I can't find anything related to this on the internet, so I assume the train rides are no longer offered. Can you please let me know if I am not correct?

I'll bookmark your website, as I found it intriguing to read about the history of Chatsworth and some of the other tiny towns, such as Charlotte, that I have driven past or through so many times, and wondered about their foundings.

You have a very nice website! Lots of information -- looks like you've given it a lot of time and effort!

Chatsworth is a great town with so much history. My grandma Delores Berryhill was from there tho she recently passed away, bless her. My grandfather J.D was also from Chatsworth and God rest his sole. I still have family there as well as Piper City. I'm a great fan of the Tpw railroad and have fond memories of caboose rides during Chatsworth Heritage Days during the mid 90s provided by the town and the RR. What happened with this? For the upcoming Heritage Days someone should get in contact with Genesee & Wyoming (tPW's new owner) about providing rides for the community, or at least about them providing display able equipment on their line. As a former railroader and a railroad buff with many contacts, I can guarantee such an attraction will intensively increase attendance at the event. I have a few pics of my cousins and I riding on a TPW locomotive in the mid 90s that I'd like to share with you. We had a great time back then at the Chatsworth Heritage Days!

A very informative site and great to visit and find out some interesting history. My interests are in the Tallman family - my 5x grandfather came from Ireland to Scotland and then family dispersed around the world. One Tallman family went to Chatworth (I think) Illinois and another to Ellensburg Washington. One family member Albert Henry Tallman born in Illinois in the late 1800's had four or five children. I would like to think I have some cousins in the area and would like to make contact.
